ROHS Certification
European affair and council published the Restrictions on Hazardous Substances Directive 2002/95/EC on February, 2003. All equipment, falling in one of the 8 categories, entering the EU from 1 July 2006 must be free of above substances or its application within the limits or exemptions set out in the annex to the Directive. Rosh is short for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. The new instruction restricted the products which containing the material such as Pb、Hg、Cd、Cr6、PBB、PBDE and also influence the billions of electrical and electronic equipment exporting in China every year.

Notes: Medical equipment and Monitor or control equipment are restricted by RoHS now.
It should point out that there is no uniform testing and certification or organization is authorized to test, estimate or certification the product for RoHS like CE until now. Only request the importers and the manufactures ensure their products compliance with RoHS. Therefore, some Accreditation Bodies or labs provided service for RoHS is not standard. If the manufactures ensure their products compliance with RoSH, meanwhile no special require from customer, that is no need to for testing and certification report.
But most of companies are not familiar with how to classify the RoHS products, and how much it should be classify, but Accreditation Body are specialized in Safety mark and European instructions. More and more of the European importers ask the manufacture to provide a RoHS report from Accreditation Body or labs.
